I. Internship/Co-op Programs

In April 2009, Bentley University based in Waltham, Massachusetts, contracted HFA to assist with a Ghana internship program launched by the university. In the four years prior to starting its internship program Bentley ran two-week Ghana programs imbedded in semester long courses. Bentley’s Ghana internship program was designed to provide students with longer periods of engagement with NGO/microfinance organizations.  Under the 2009 contract HFA identified new internship opportunities with NGOs, microfinance organizations and private companies.  In addition, HFA managed day-to-day program operations during the 8-week internship period. In 2010, the HFA contract with Bentley continued and internship placement doubled with local organizations in Ghana. In addition to Bentley University, HFA initiated a pilot internship program for Wheelock College in 2010. The Wheelock Ghana Internship Program started its second year of operation in June 2011 with ground logistical support provided by HFA. After establishing a successful two-year track record with Bentley University and Wheelock College, HFA is reaching out to colleges and university outside the Boston Area to establish internships/Co-op placements for their students. Reference contact information for our internship work with Bentley University and Wheelock College is available upon request.
